Did you know that from the 10th June 2024, new legislations mean that all cats in England must be microchipped by law, just like with our dogs.
Microchipping cats is a popular and effective way of ensuring the safety and well-being of our feline friends. The procedure involves the insertion of a microchip, about the size of a grain of rice, under the skin of your cat, usually between their shoulder blades. The simple procedure can be done during a routine visit to your vet practice by a vet or vet nurse. This microchip contains a unique number that can be scanned by any veterinary practice using a handheld scanner.
One of the main reasons for microchipping cats is to increase the chances of reuniting lost or stolen cats with their owners. Cats are known for their curious nature and can easily wander off or get lost! It is important to remember, that if you move or change your phone number, then it’s your responsibility to contact your microchipping company to update your details.
We offer 20% off microchipping if your cat is microchipped whilst under general anaesthetic, typically when they are in for neutering. Please ask a member of our team if you would like to book your cat in for microchipping or have any other questions about the right time to get your kitten or cat microchipped
