We now have all the kit to be able to check rams to make sure they are in tip top condition before breeding season. It is so important for rams to be in great health – all too often a problem with a ram being subfertile is only found out too late when an unexpectedly low number of ewes are in-lamb. Breeding examinations involve clinical examination as well as a semen sample being collected & analysed under a microscope, all out on farm. Any problems found can then be addressed before the ram is needed to work.
